Vermont stuns No. 5 Gophers in women's hockey
The No. 5 Gophers women’s hockey team was stunned by unranked Vermont 4-2 on Friday night at Ridder Arena in the first meeting ever between those schools.
Minnesota (16-6-2) fell behind 4-0 before rallying for two goals in the final six minutes.
Scoring twice on four shots on goal, Vermont (6-13-4) took a 2-0 lead in the opening period. Junior defenseman Taylor Flaherty, of Lakeville, scored in the 15th minute for the Catamounts and sophomore forward Eve-Audrey Picard with 55 seconds left. Picard’s goal was reviewed for a high stick possibly, but the call on the ice stood.
